26-year-old would be an excellent signing for Leeds United

Leeds United have been connected with several Premier League defenders this month.

The Whites may possibly reinforce in every position across the back four, with a right-back needed following the exits of Djed Spence and Luke Ayling, Daniel Farke admitting his side could use another left-back, and a central defender needed if Charlie Cresswell departs.
Overall, the January transfer market has been extremely quiet, with teams afraid to overspend due to profit and sustainability constraints.

Leeds are heavily focused on the Premier League loan market, and Everton‘s Ben Godfrey is the latest name to be linked with a transfer to Elland Road this week.

Leeds are poised to compete with Sheffield United and AC Milan for the 26-year-old, who has struggled to find game time this season due to injuries and the form of players ahead of him.
Godfrey would be an excellent signing for Leeds.

Godfrey could certainly use a fresh start in order to relaunch his career, and there is no better place for him to do so than Leeds right now.

Godfrey would be able to rejoin with Daniel Farke, the manager under whom he played his greatest football at Norwich City, as the Leeds manager is a big supporter of his.

Though predominantly a centre-back, Godfrey can cover any position in the back four and has done so multiple times for Everton.

He also has a very similar profile to current first-choice centre-back Joe Rodon, with recovery pace and ball-playing ability being two of his strongest qualities.

The one real negative to bringing Godfrey in this month is how injury-prone he has been over the last couple of seasons, but a fresh start may be what he needs to put those behind him.
