49ers and Leeds willing to sell “intelligent” £90,000-a-week player this summer

The Yorkshire club could generate extra revenue.

Leeds United had a relatively quiet January transfer window, with just Connor Roberts joining on loan, but speculation about summer intentions has already begun. After moving Luis Sinisterra to Bournemouth, it appears that those at Elland Road are prepared to continue their ruthlessness by selling another player this summer.

Leeds United Transfer News

Wilfried Gnonto is one Leeds player who has yet to leave the club. The winger allegedly submitted a transfer request during the summer window but was unable to secure a move to Premier League club Everton.

The rumours surfaced again last month, when the Italian was linked with a late move to West Ham United. However, like with the summer, a move did not materialise. Staying in Yorkshire, Gnonto has subsequently established his worth in the Championship, scoring the winning goal against Bristol City.

Jack Harrison, on the other hand, received a trade during the summer. Unlike Gnonto, the winger has completed a loan move to Everton and might now go permanently, confirming Phil Hay’s prior belief that the Whites would allow Harrison‘s exit.

Jack-Harrison

According to Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider, the 49ers and Leeds are prepared to sell Harrison this season, regardless of Championship promotion, with offers expected from the Premier League and beyond Europe. Everton, the winger’s current loan club, are allegedly ready to make the deal permanent, but any transfer could be hampered by their current lack of top-flight stability.

However, if Leeds wins promotion, Harrison may return to the club, but it appears that if the price is right, the Whites will cash in.

Selling “Intelligent” Harrison might be a mistake.

While Leeds compete for promotion to the Championship, Harrison has been demonstrating his Premier League abilities at Everton. The winger has swiftly established himself as a crucial member of Sean Dyche’s squad, continuing where he left off for a difficult Leeds team last season. However, if the Whites do get promotion to the Premier League, Harrison‘s statistics suggest that he is a player they should want to rely on rather than sell – even if it means clearing his rumoured £90k per week earnings.

Jack Harrison
Former Leeds manager Jesse Marsch was clearly a fan of the 27-year-old, previously saying:

“I believe Jack is developing into a really strong, clear, clever, and intensive player for us.

“Obviously, we want to keep developing and pushing him, but I’ve been really pleased with the progress he’s made over the last month, and I believe that if he can continue to understand tactically and the mentality of the way we want to play, he will get better and better. So, sure, and then I believe that all of the players ahead of the ball will be able to combine more hazardous moves and score more goals.”
