49ers Enterprises risk infuriating Daniel Farke- ‘Aspirational’ Leeds United transfer rumour surfaced

Leeds United is currently waiting for their first new recruit at Elland Road as the halfway point of the January transfer window draws near.

Two veteran players have already made way: Luke Ayling has completed his original loan move to Championship rivals Middlesbrough for the duration of the season, while Djed Spence has returned to Tottenham Hotspur.

There’s a chance that more players will leave Elland Road. Charlie Cresswell and Joe Gelhardt are two players who are frequently connected to both temporary and permanent moves away from Elland Road.

However, after fifteen days of the transfer season and a summer marked by significant turnover under Farke‘s direction, Leeds has not made a firm attempt to bring in a new player.

Farke has often stated that he is pleased with the team he has at his disposal, and his team showed against Cardiff that they are capable of contending for the Championship’s automatic promotion spots with a strong performance.

However, the German did agree that upgrading to his squad in one or two areas would be necessary if Leeds United want to stay “ambitious” this season, in what felt like a bit of a message to those in power at Elland Road.

He stated, “We won’t fall asleep until the end of the window and, at the moment, everyone can see it would be perhaps beneficial if we would have some additions in one or two positions if we want to stay ambitious,” as reported by Leeds Live on 15 January.

“I work with what I have right now, and I’m pretty happy with how much all the players who are available right now are putting in such amazing performances.”

Farke’s remark implies that everyone at Elland Road agrees that adding a few new players wouldn’t hurt, but for some reason, those moves haven’t materialised in the first few weeks of the transfer market.

The owners of Leeds, 49ers Enterprises, run the risk of frustrating the German as he attempts to earn promotion back to the Premier League if they don’t match the desire of Farke and those around him in the Whites setup and help him add to this squad before the end of the window.

This probably won’t be a problem as long as things on the pitch continue to go well. But if Leeds experiences a slump in performance akin to what they did over the holidays, the absence of transfer activity might become a sensitive issue.

Farke’s most recent request for reinforcements should serve as motivation for the Whites to begin moving forward with their incoming transfer business this month.
