Reports: Tottenham is waiting for the player’s approval before proceeding with the transaction

Tottenham Hotspur would consider other options if they do not receive encouragement in their pursuit of Jean-Clair Todibo, according to TEAMtalk.

Spurs apparently made their initial move for Todibo earlier this week, with Fabrizio Romano stating on Wednesday on his YouTube channel that the North London club, along with Nice, had approached the midfielder about a January switch to improve Ange Postecoglou’s defensive options.

Tottenham, according to Romano, wants the transaction to be concluded as soon as possible and has no intention of delaying the negotiations until the end of January.

Spurs are preparing to part ways with Todibo.

TEAMtalk has now backed up this story, stating that until Spurs are willing to move on to other centre-backs if the deal cannot be completed fast.

According to the source, Tottenham will not waste time if the negotiations prove problematic and are willing to postpone Todiobo until later in the year.

Everton’s Ben Godfrey, Bournemouth‘s Lloyd Kelly, Benfica’s Morato, Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo, and Genoa’s Radu Dragusin are all said to be on Ange Postecoglou’s radar.

According to the publication, Todibo is interested in a move to the Premier League, but Nice may be hesitant to do so because they are competing with Paris Saint-Germain at the top of Ligue 1.

TEAMtalk also claims that Spurs are willing to pay up to £40 million for the French international, with money not being the major problem for the Lilywhites.

When deals for their first-choice targets, David Raya and Edmond Tapsoba, appeared to be dragging on, Spurs quickly turned their attention to Guglielmo Vicario and Micky van de Ven.

Rather than waiting until the end of the window to address crucial areas, it appears that the club will implement a similar strategy in January.
