Ray Parlour believes Leeds United can put further pressure on Ipswich Town if they win Preston North End in the early kick-off on Tuesday (26 December).
Leeds trounced Ipswich 4-0 on Saturday (December 23), closing the gap on second-placed Ipswich to seven points.
With a win at Deepdale, Daniel Farke‘s men can cut the gap to four points ahead of Ipswich Town‘s home encounter against leaders Leicester City later in the day.

“If Leeds United can get a result early doors away at Preston,” Parlour remarked on talkSPORT Breakfast [26 December, 06:19], “all of a sudden the pressure is on Ipswich as Leeds will close the gap on the top two places.”
The big one
The recent victory over Ipswich, as well as the manner in which it was achieved, has reopened the automatic promotion race.
If Leeds win at Preston, the margin between them and second-placed Ipswich might be narrowed to four points.

It will therefore be up to Leicester to assist when they meet the Tractor Boys in the late kick-off at Portman Road.
In the worst-case scenario, Ipswich will finish 10 points ahead of Leeds. That effectively ends any hopes of finishing in the top two.
Of course, there is still plenty of time remaining in the season, but Leeds should start reducing the deficit sooner rather than later.
After a recent hiccup, Farke’s charges got back on track in their most recent game.
Let’s hope that serves as a springboard for us to close the gap and overcome Ipswich in the following weeks.
