According to Kieran Trippier, Newcastle United’s surprising 3-1 loss to the Reds on Tuesday was brought on by Nottingham Forest’s “transitions”.
After Alexander Isak gave Newcastle the lead from the penalty spot, Chris Wood, a former Magpies striker, scored a hat-trick to cause Eddie Howe’s club to lose for the third straight game. It was Forest’s first victory since they defeated Aston Villa at the City Ground on November 5.
Additionally, full-back Trippier has explained how Forest’s quick movements seriously affected Newcastle. Throughout Tuesday’s match, Nuno Espirio Santo’s team’s forward Anthony Elanga, who has two assists, was a constant menace.
“We were in control in the first half, but it was the transitions that we’d spoken about,” he told Amazon Prime. “They have some very quick players and that’s where they hurt us.”
“We were always in control. They have some very good players on the transition. The most important thing is we regroup and stick together. We have to start the second half of the season strong.”
The next game Forest plays at the City Ground is against Manchester United on Saturday, December 30.
