Hwang Hee-chan of Wolves, who scored his 10th Premier League goal of the season against Brentford on Wednesday, was also named to Klinsmann‘s 26-man squad for the competition, which begins off on January 12 in Qatar.

Son will lead a team that features Bayern Munich defender Kim Min-jae and Paris Saint-Germain offensive midfielder Lee Kang-in, both 22.

South Korea has not won the Asian Cup since 1960, and Klinsmann has said nothing except that the championship will suffice this time.

South Korea was assigned to Group E, where it will meet Malaysia, Jordan, and Bahrain in the first round.
