Leeds United and Southampton are reportedly interested in former Sheffield United midfielder David Brooks to AFC Bournemouth.
Both the Whites and the Saints are aiming for an immediate return to the Premier League after being relegated last season. They are currently fourth and third, respectively, and are the clubs closest to pacesetters Leicester City and Ipswich Town. According to talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, both Leeds and Southampton are interested in signing Brooks. Brooks has been on Bournemouth‘s books since 2018, when he was signed from Sheffield United. He quickly rose to prominence for the Cherries, but his career was cut short when he was diagnosed with stage-two Hodgkin lymphoma in 2021.
He was declared cancer-free in 2022 and made his long-awaited comeback earlier this year, after overcoming a hamstring injury. This season, the Wales international has made 14 appearances for Bournemouth in all competitions, 11 of which have come in the Premier League. Only two of his league appearances have come from the bench. Leeds have already used the loan market this season, acquiring Djed Spence and Joe Rodon from Tottenham Hotspur and Jaidon Anthony from Bournemouth.
Anthony Brooks, Brooks’ Cherries teammate, has only made two Championship starts for Leeds, but Daniel Farke expects him to stay at Elland Road for the duration of the season.
