According to trade expert Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur may miss out on French centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo.
Spurs desperately need a new center-back in the January transfer window, and Ange Postecoglou wants to bring in some new faces soon.
They are said to be in negotiations with the 24-year-old defender from Ligue 1 club Nice. Spurs believe it will be difficult to secure a deal for Todibo at this time, but their situation is critical as they require a defender soon.
Romano has now asserted on X that the “Todibo deal could collapse soon,” citing timing as the key cause.
Todibo is a world-class defender who would have been an excellent addition to the club, but Spurs are not in a position to delay a transaction, especially with two of their main defenders presently injured.
So, what comes next?
Spurs appear to be making a firm approach for Genoa defender Radu Dragusin, who has already indicated ‘yes’ to a move to the north London club.
According to Romano, the Spurs will send the “first verbal bid” for Dragusin soon and would try to arrange a deal as soon as possible.
Spurs, according to 90min, are not ready to put all their eggs in one basket, which is why Ben Godfrey, Tosin Adarabioyo, Lloyd Kelly, and Sebastian Caceres are all being monitored at this level.
Tottenham, however, is aiming to boost other parts of the pitch and has made an approach to recruit Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.
