Tottenham Hotspur player ratings from the 3-1 win over Bournemouth

Tottenham Hotspur returned to winning ways this afternoon, defeating an in-form Bournemouth 3-1. Let’s look at how the individual players fared:

Tottenham vs. Bournemouth player ratings

Tottenham squad
Vicario, Guglielmo: He just carries on with his work without waiting for a pat on the back. Today I made a number of normal stops and distributed extremely well. 7

Pedro Porro: Porro had an uneventful game. He didn’t occupy the pockets as much in the final third as he usually does, but it wasn’t a bad performance. There’s some good defensive effort in there. 6.5

Emerson Royal: You can see he’s a fullback playing center back, but Royal gave a decent performance today. The Brazilian did some excellent front-foot defending. 6.5

Ben Davies has been Tottenham’s most consistent defender recently. Just puts his head down and gets to work in the back. A number of crucial blocks and excellent ball-carrying. 7

Destiny Udogie: You’ve been very impressive today. Tottenham was saved three times by tracking back as the last player, but he was also a menace moving forward down the left. What a performer! 8

Rodrigo Bentancur: A late Christmas present allowed Bentancur to return to the XI much sooner than expected, and he scored within minutes. As always, you’re on the ball. It was natural for me to become tired in the second half. 7.5

Pape Matar Sarr: It’s a terrible he was hurt, but perhaps he’ll be able to attend AFCON. On the right side, he was a flash of energy on and off the ball, and he took his goal so wonderfully. 8

Giovani Lo Celso: acquitted himself admirably at his audition. With Kulusevski and Maddison out, he stepped into the creative position and recorded two assists. He was frantic at times, but he offered far more than he risked. 8

Richarlison: What do you have to say about Richarlison? Missed a couple of fantastic chances and battled to keep the ball aloft at times, but then scored a crucial goal to put the game out of reach. It’s difficult to argue with five goals in five games. 7

Heung-min Son: Not his best game, to be honest. He squandered two excellent chances to score the second goal. But Son is always capable of igniting something, whether it’s sending Richarlison through on goal (only for him to miss) or hammering one into the far corner to make it two-nil. 7

Brennan Johnson: A few dangerous dashes down the wing, but without the final ball to make Bournemouth pay. Then, to make it three, he finally got it right with a wonderful cross to Richarlison. Johnson will be a major player whenever he improves his consistency. 7

Substitutes:

Oliver Skipp: Replaced the injured Sarr. Was sloppy at times, but got sunk in and became a nuisance. A beautiful cross in almost set up a goal for Son/Richy. 6

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg: A classic Hojbjerg sub on to calm things down, and it frequently succeeds. 6

N/A for Eric Dier

N/A for Alejo Veliz.

Bryan Gil: None.
