Tottenham was given some positive news about midfielder Pape Matar Sarr earlier today.
The 21-year-old has had a tremendous season at the club and is enjoying his breakthrough year. With Yves Bissouma, he has established himself as the favourite starting midfield player. In his 18 games to date, he has contributed two goals and two assists.
Spurs extended their long-term contract offer to him yesterday, acknowledging that his steady play has been rewarded.
He did have a minor setback this past week during the match against Bournemouth. He scored the game’s first goal with a spectacular effort from outside the area, but he was substituted injured after 30 minutes.
Dan Kilpatrick of the Evening Standard, however, revealed today that the midfield player had an evaluation and was deemed “passed fit to play” for Senegal in the AFCON, which begins the next week.
Senegal and Tottenham, who have recently been dealing with a terrible injury issue, are both thrilled with this news.
Now, they will be hoping that Sarr leaves the competition unscathed and picks up precisely where he left off in terms of his outstanding form.
