Club is already looking for a successor for their £3.2 million player

Leeds United are interested in a surprise move for goalkeeperBartlomiej Dragowski, whose club Spezia is preparing for his departure this month by seeking a replacement.

Dragowski, 26, has seen his stock plummet in recent years. After playing for Fiorentina, he was released by La Viola and joined Spezia in 2022, continuing in Italy’s top flight, for a cost of £3.2 million.

However, he and Ethan Ampadu were unable to retain Spezia in Serie A, and the club was relegated. Dragowski has remained, implying that a player of his level is now playing in Italy’s second division.

A number of European countries have expressed interest in this. According to recent reports, Leeds United and Hull City are both interested. Bundesliga clubs, as well as Ligue 1 side Rennes, are interested in him.

Dragowski wants to go because he wants to be a part of Poland‘s Euro 2024 squad, and a move to a bigger club will help him do that. The English Championship is far more competitive than the Italian Serie B.

Bartlomiej Dragowski, a target for Leeds, is replaced by Spezia.

Leeds has now received a boost. Calcio Spezia claim the second-tier club is preparing for Dragowski’s departure and have found the ideal replacement in Pisa’s Leonardo Loria, who is warming the bench.

Dragowski has lost his starting spot in Spezia’s lineup to seasoned Dutch stopper Jeroen Zoet, and Spezia believes they only need to bring in a younger back-up custodian to replace Dragowski on the bench.

Even if Loria is signed, selling Dragowski would allow Spezia to save money on payroll. He is still regarded as a possible successor for Dragowski, despite Spezia’s apparent desire to offload the Polish star.
