Leeds United are’very determined’ on repelling January interest in Wilfried Gnonto

Leeds United are keen to keep Wilfried Gnonto after rejecting several approaches during the summer transfer window.

Leeds United are’very determined’ on keeping Wilfried Gnonto out of the clutches of his suitors before the transfer window closes, and journalist Ben Jacobs has told GIVEMESPORT why it would be a ‘risky’ move for the Italy international to push for an Elland Road exit amid Everton interest.

Despite the fact that Tyler Adams and Rodrigo left Yorkshire following the Whites’ relegation from the Premier League, allowing them to pocket more than £27 million, Daniel Farke’s side is in contention for an immediate return to the top flight as they close in on the automatic promotion spots.

Leeds United have already done some business since the winter window opened at the beginning of the year, with Djed Spence returning to Tottenham Hotspur after a break clause in his loan agreement was triggered, but more incomings and outgoings could be sanctioned before the February 1 deadline.
Everton is negotiating a deal for Gnonto.

According to Italian journalist  Rudy Galetti , Evertonare in talks with Leeds about signing Gnonto, and he is regarded a top target by Toffees boss Sean Dyche as he looks to add additional firepower to his team.

According to the recognized reporter, the two teams have been in talks for some weeks about the winger, who has only made eight starts in all competitions this season, and he has previously shown that he wants to move to Goodison Park.

Gnonto sent in a transfer request in the closing stages of the summer window, attempting to force a move to Everton after becoming dissatisfied with Leeds’ relegation to the second division, but his current club resisted despite getting multiple bids.

Farke, who oversaw a major departure from Elland Road during his early tenure, set a £30million price tag on the 20-year-old, and the Whites turned down proposals worth up to £25.7million from the Toffees because they refused to alter their demands.
However, transfer insider Dean Jones recently told GIVEMESPORT that Gnonto’s lack of regular game time could attract a Premier League bidder to test Leeds’ resolve, and a mid-season switch appears to be possible at this stage.

That’s because the Championship champions’ attitude appears to have softened, with the club apparently willing to permit the former Inter Milan youngster’s departure in order to expand Farke’s budget for prospective fresh faces.

It is understood that Gnonto’s difficulties in breaking into Leeds’ starting line-up – due to preferred options such as Crysencio Summerville, Joel Piroe, Dan James, and Georginio Rutter – have led to Premier League and Serie A clubs monitoring his situation in preparation for a possible move in the coming days.

Wilfried Gnonto provides an update on Ben Jacobs.
Although Jacobs is skeptical that Farke would be able to prevent Gnonto from taking on a new challenge if a good proposal is put forward by one of his admirers, he understands why Leeds are eager to fend off any interest.

The reputable journalist also believes the Italian, who has been on the Whites’ books since signing a £3.8million deal from Swiss side FC Zurich less than 18 months ago, would be making a risky decision if he chooses to join Everton despite the possibility of them switching divisions in a matter of months.
