What Radu Dragusin was told by Ange Postecoglou to persuade him to switch his mind and sign with Tottenham

Ange Postecoglou will undoubtedly have had a significant impact on Radu Dragusin’s late decision to join Tottenham Hotspur.

The Romanian centre-back is on his way to North London after deciding on a move to German champions Bayern Munich.
While Harry Kane opted to play for Bayern Munich, Dragusin believed that Tottenham was the best place for him to reach his full potential.

That being said, it has now been exposed what Postecoglou said to Dragusin to persuade him to join Tottenham late on.

Postecoglou

The Times has been outlining the timeline of the transfer and what the Spurs boss said to influence the decision.

According to this story, Postecoglou personally informed Dragusin that he would get regular opportunities in the Tottenham first team.

This was supposed to be critical to the centre-back’s choice, possibly something Bayern couldn’t promise.

Having said that, it’s a bold guarantee given Cristian Romero’s and Micky van de Ven’s respective forms.

The latter is unlikely to be dropped because he is the squad’s only left-footed player.

However, Romero may have grounds for concern.

Ange Postecoglou guaranteed Radu Dragusin regular minutes in Tottenham.

Perhaps Cristian Romero will face some consequences given his lack of discipline this season.
Postecoglou has always openly supported his defender, no matter how foolish some of his decisions have been.

Cristian Romero

Dragusin is unlikely to dethrone Romero right away, but if this trend continues, he may.

Of course, the Romanian is likely to be called up right away because Romero will be out for some time.

Spurs supporters would undoubtedly anticipate Romero to return to the starting lineup once healthy, but that may no longer be the case.

Having said that, Spurs may benefit from the addition of another centre-back in the future, as one defender is on the verge of leaving.

Perhaps a fourth centre-back will wait until the summer, but with Dragusin on board, Postecoglou’s future at Tottenham looks much brighter.
