Tottenham are now looking to sign a midfielder and are still tracking Conor Gallagher in case he leaves Chelsea.
Gallagher is said to be Tottenham’s first priority in search of a new midfielder. The Chelsea captain has yet to sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge, despite his desire to stay.
Tottenham have been closely monitoring the status of the England midfielder this month. Spurs have already signed Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin in the previous week and are now looking for a midfielder.
Speaking to GiveMeSport, journalist Dean Jones stated that Spurs cannot believe they have a chance of signing Gallagher.
Tottenham were astonished that they could sign Conor Gallagher.
Discussing the fee it could take for Gallagher to leave Chelsea for Spurs, Jones touched on how Spurs are really startled by what appears to be an open invitation to bid for the midfielder.
“Conor Gallagher is a player they’re interested in. They find it difficult to believe that he will be available for transfer, but if he is, they believe they are the best place for him to end up. If they could obtain Conor Gallagher for £40 million to £50 million, I believe they would consider it a decent deal and try to pursue it. However, clearly, they are still dealing with the situation.
“On an emotional level, Conor Gallagher does not want to leave Chelsea,” Jones added.
Spurs should continue pushing.
If Tottenham were to sign Gallagher, their January transfer window would be extremely impressive.
There is a reason this story isn’t going away, and it’s because Chelsea can’t seem to get their act together when it comes to their captain. He must be getting hints that he isn’t totally wanted, which will be positive for Spurs.
