Leeds United’s interest Bartlomiej Dragowski rejects transfer rivals in January window update

According to La Nazione, Bartlomiej Dragowski has turned down offers from Cremonese, with Leeds United showing “strong” interest in him

The Italian newspaper stated on January 12 that the Spezia goalkeeper has turned down any potential offers from the fellow Serie B team, while his present club is eager to sell him.

According to Fussball Transfers’ Dominik Schneider on 11 January, work is being done to find a move for the Pole and two teammates, but he will not be moving to the Whites’ Championship rivals Hull City due to his €1 million net per season [£860,000] wages.

The 26-year-old is being linked to Leeds United as a possible Illan Meslier replacement, who is reportedly attracting interest from Celta Vigo.

The final standing club?
After Meslier had a terrible season that led to the Whites’ Premier League relegation, the speculation of his departure has subsided considerably between this season and last.
However, the long-term starter has kept his top spot for Daniel Farke despite Karl Darlow‘s summer arrival, and during the first half of the season, his reputation has somewhat recovered.

Given how vital Meslier is to the team, along with attacking studs Georginio Rutter and Crysencio Summerville, it seems improbable that the Germans would permit Meslier to play anywhere in January.
Therefore, it would appear that any attempt to sign former Fiorentina goalkeeper Dragowski was conducted with the future in mind, possibly to prevent him from leaving Elland Road in the summer.

It is expected that Leeds United will lose some of its stars if they are not promoted back to the top division.

With Spezia now in the Italian second division, it appears they are looking to save costs associated with their Polish internationals. Given that Hull and Cremonese have presumably been ruled out, the Whites may be their only remaining realistic choice.

A potential low-cost acquisition would make sense, but it would be interesting to see how Darlow would react. Leeds’ rumored interest may have something to do with whether or not that makes the terms of any trade more advantageous to them.

In other Leeds United news, following negotiations, the Whites have decided to move on a defender valued at £4 million.
