According to Dan Kilpatrick of The Standard, Ange Postecoglou has been displeased with Djed Spence’s manner and attitude when the Australian first walked through the door in the summer.
Spence has now joined Genoa on loan, with the Italian club holding the option to purchase him permanently for £8.5 million in the summer (Fabrizio Romano).
Leeds chose to cut short his loan at Elland Road and send the right-back to Spurs, with Daniel Farke admitting it was due to disciplinary difficulties (Joe Donnohue).
Postecoglou’s current intentions do not include Djed Spence.
Kilpatrick has stated that Spence was hesitant to move to Genoa, but Tottenham made it clear to the defender that he is not part of Postecoglou’s plans and may not receive a better offer this month.
According to the journalist, there are issues with the 23-year-old’s attitude and timeliness, as well as big concerns about his focus and demeanor.
Kilpatrick argues that Postecoglou valued professionalism just as much as talent, but Spence could not satisfy the 58-year-old’s expectations in preseason, struggling to be punctual and maintain the proper attitude in training.

Spence‘s talent is undeniable, but his mentality has been called into question since his time at Middlesbrough. Hopefully, the right-back has learned his lesson from this action, or he risks ending up like Tanguy Ndombele.
