Journalist reports: The selling club wants up to £60 million for the player, while Spurs only want to pay £35 million.

Journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed that Chelsea want a fixed sum of roughly £45 million for Conor Gallagher but are ‘flexible’ about the deal’s structure.

Tottenham have been widely rumoured in recent days to be looking to add a midfielder after signing Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin.

The Independent, for example, reported that Gallagher is currently at the top of Ange Postecoglou‘s wishlist.

Conor Gallagher is nowhere close to extending his contract.

Jacobs has now clarified the situation over the England international’s future, admitting that the player is unlikely to sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge in the near future.

According to the writer, the West London club‘s strategy is to consider offers for any player with fewer than two years remaining on his contract, despite Mauricio Pochettino‘s desire for the midfielder to stay.

Jacobs adds that the Chelsea leadership is hoping for a figure equal to what they received for Mason Mount last summer, but reminds out that Tottenham was only willing to spend £35 million for Gallagher in the previous window.

There is no question that Tottenham will look into a move for Gallagher in the coming week or two, with the North London club having some money to play with after signing Werner and Dragusin for very low amounts.

However, with Gallagher obviously unwilling to leave and Chelsea reportedly holding out for £50 million, the deal appears unlikely to go through.
