Mystery bids of £1.9 million rejected for PNE and Leeds United-linked defender

Nathaniel Adjei, a defender for Hammarby, has been linked to Preston North End; however, offers of around £2 million have already been turned down

2024 will undoubtedly be PNE’s year of defensive signings.

Regarding Jordan Storey, Liam Lindsay, and Andrew Hughes as starting defenders for a squad vying for the Championship playoffs, Patrick Bauer has faded into obscurity.

Many defenders, including Connor O’Riordan of Crewe Alexandra, have been linked to North End recently, but one rumored target is undoubtedly becoming unavailable.

Bids for PNE-connected Nathaniel Adjei are rejected by Hammarby

Reports in November stated that PNE had initiated talks to sign Hammarby defender Nathaniel Adjei.

Adjei was allegedly targeted by North End for a loan with the intention of signing a permanent contract in the summer.

However, Hammarby sought about £3 million for Adjei, a sum that would have undoubtedly exceeded North End’s budget.

Although the rumor hasn’t really progressed since then, Sunderland and Leeds United have been strongly associated with the Ghanaian.

More rumors are starting to surface in Sweden. According to Football Direkt, Hammarby has allegedly received proposals totaling about 25 million SEK, or about £1.9 million.
Those offers were turned down by Hammarby because they were for 35–40 million SEK, or between £2.6 and £3 million.

After committing big money to the signings of Milutin Osmajic and Mads Frøkjaer-Jensen, we can’t see PNE negotiating a deal with that kind of value included.

Rumors do suggest that PNE is still searching overseas for possible additions despite acquiring Osmajic and Frøkjær-Jensen in the summer.

Adjei would be a great match as an athletic center defender with star potential, but in this January transfer window, the money is maybe a little bit too high for North End.

We would actually be shocked if anyone came to Deepdale this month, as a calm January window is anticipated.
