Transfer update: Leeds is primed to sign the 26-year-old player this month

Bartlomiej Dragowski is most likely to join with Leeds United.

According to a Tuttomercatoweb source, Leeds United has emerged as the front-runner to recruit Spezia goalkeeper Bartlomiej Dragowski.

Daniel Farke‘s team is keeping an eye on Poland International as a potential replacement for Ilian Meslier, who is being courted to leave Elland Road and sign with Spanish team Celta Vigo.

Mariusz Kulesza, the agent for Dragowski, is amenable to the prospect of a move to France, where multiple teams are circling, with Rennes expressing a significant interest in challenging Leeds for the signing of the 26-year-old. This is in response to a report from Il Secolo XIX, which was cited by Tuttomercatoweb.

Dragowski made a name for himself as the Ligurians’ undisputed starting goalkeeper the previous season, playing in 34 games in addition to the survival play-off. But this season, he stayed at the top of the starting lineup through the end of November. Sadly, he had a setback when he was injured and had to miss two games against Parma and Ascoli. He thus lost his spot in the starting lineup to Jeroen Zoet, the backup goalkeeper.

Dragowski’s contract expires in 2025, and he is expected to depart Stadio Alberto Picco due to a lack of playing time in order to try to earn a berth in Poland’s squad for the forthcoming European Championship.

Does Leeds need to get a new goalie?

There isn’t much competition for Meslier, Leeds’ unchallenged first-choice custodian since the days of Marcelo Bielsa, from backup keepers. Leeds has had to reconsider their options if Meslier leaves the team since Karl Darlow and Kristoffer Klaesson haven’t presented a strong enough challenge.

Therefore, it seems that Farke wants to get a good goalie to compete with Meslier. The Whites could take advantage of this chance given Dragowski‘s wish to go and the Italian second-division club’s willingness to split ways.

In January, a lot of teams showed interest in signing Dragowski, Leeds among them. To fend off competition from other French League suitors to lure him to Elland Road, it remains to be seen if Leeds makes a sizable bid in the coming days.
