Leeds United are apparently looking to recruit Liverpool defender Calvin Ramsay on loan during the January transfer window, according to the Daily Mail’s print version of Thursday. The 20-year-old is one of the right-back alternatives Leeds is considering
According to Sky Sports, Liverpool will pay £6.5 million to recruit Scotland international Ramsay in the summer of 2022. They recently recalled him from his loan spell at Championship club Preston North End.
Leeds United are facing a significant scarcity of right-back alternatives, particularly after Djed Spence returned to Tottenham and Luke Ayling joined Middlesbrough, putting them in need of further depth at the position.
Ramsay, who only featured twice during his injury-plagued loan term with Preston, is likely eager to acquire more regular football through a potential loan move, as he seeks crucial playing experience and consistency.
Ramsay‘s previous performances with Aberdeen, which earned him the SFWA Young Player of the Year award, suggest that he might be a consistent option for Leeds United.
Given his young age of only 20, the Scotsman‘s ceiling is quite high as long as he can acquire continuous game time to boost his growth.
