According to sources who spoke to Football Insider, Leeds United has begun initial discussions over a loan-to-buy agreement for Ben Godfrey, an Everton player.
After his transfer to Atalanta fell through earlier this month, the Yorkshire giants focused on acquiring the defender.
Everton and Leeds are debating a loan with a Godfrey obligation.
The 25-year-old center back is free to leave Goodison Park this month as the team looks to save costs on payroll, according to Sean Dyche.
Godfrey has had a difficult time getting into the game this season, making only three appearances across all competitions, including just one start in the Premier League.
As Football Insider reported earlier this month (4 January), he was on the verge of a move to Serie A, but it fell through due to the Italian tax cut being abolished.
Godfrey has made 80 appearances for the Toffees since joining from Norwich in 2020 for about £25 million, but he has battled to find consistent minutes after missing the first part of last season due to a broken fibula.

They will meet Norwich City at Elland Road on Wednesday evening (January 24).
