As ‘agreement nears’ over important player; Leeds United’starts talks’ with target

Leeds United return to action on Wednesday night against Norwich City at Elland Road. The Whites are now within five points of second-placed Ipswich Town, who drew with leaders Leicester City on Monday night.

Daniel Farke’s side will play in the FA Cup this weekend, but first they must face Norwich, who are on the verge of making the playoffs. In the meantime, we have gathered all of the newest news about Elland Road.

Leeds are thought to have begun negotiations with Everton’s Ben Godfrey as they try to reinforce their back line this month. According to Football Insider, ‘preliminary talks’ have begun between the two teams, and the initial agreement will be a loan.

However, it is believed that Leeds would seek to recruit Godfrey on a loan with the option to buy, something Everton may be amenable to. Godfrey was thought to be close to a £15 million move to Serie A club Atalanta until the deal fell through due to a rule change in the Italian league.Godfrey, a 26-year-old centre-back, has made 69 league appearances for Everton since 2020.

Gnonto accord is ‘near’.

Willy Gnonto could be ready for a new Leeds deal, according to reports, thus putting an end to any speculation about a departure. The Italian was signed as a kid, and his salary hasn’t represented his contributions thus far.

Gnonto is now strongly connected with a move away from Elland Road after previously seeking a move in the summer, but Leeds want to go ahead of that. According to TeamTalk, an agreement is close, and the arrangement would add one more year to Gnonto’s contract, which is presently due to expire in 2027.
