Norwich City manager David Wagner praised Leeds United after the Whites won their sixth game in a row on Wednesday night, thanks to Patrick Bamford’s first-half header at Elland Road.
Leeds, having won four games in a straight against Birmingham, Peterborough, Cardiff, and Preston, came into the game expecting to defeat Wagner’s Norwich, who have had an up and down season.
Leeds had to rely on luck at times, as Illan Meslier made a few mistakes in the first half. The pivotal moment occurred when Dan James, who was substituted at halftime, found Bamford to score.
A fourth goal in five games for the former England great, who appears to have recovered his form. A beautiful header into the far corner, validating Daniel Farke’s decision to keep the striker in the lineup.
According to Leeds Live, Norwich manager Wagner praised Leeds after seeing them win three points and keep a clean sheet against his side. Elland Road remains a stronghold.
“This is a frustrating result. Leeds received a real game. Competitive. Games like these are decided by narrow margins. I saw that at the West Brom game. We were not ruthless, which is why we lost it. Leeds is a great team.
“Very offensive. Congratulations on their win. The last punch in the box was missing. A pretty good game. Leeds away is never easy. “Their home record is superb,” Wagner added, according to Leeds Live.
David Wagner discusses what he noticed about Leeds following their 1-0 victory
Another great victory for Leeds. Leeds’ victory closes the distance on Ipswich and Southampton. Now only two points behind second-placed Ipswich, although the Tractor Boys clearly have a game in hand.
Leeds needed to win this game to keep up the pressure. Southampton are soaring, and Ipswich appear to be overcome a difficult period of form. The margins will be fine for the run-in.
