If Leeds United increase their interest in Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara, they have a good chance of completing a transfer.
According to Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth, who provided an update on the current episode of the ‘Inside Elland Road Podcast’.
Smyth said earlier this week that Kamara is a player Leeds are interested in, with midfield remaining a priority following the acquisition of Ethan Ampadu from Chelsea.
According to The Fourth Official, a deal was allegedly on the approach of being completed for a sum of around £4 million, albeit that claim appears to have been premature.
Kamara is almost probably on his way out of Rangers this summer, with manager Michael Beale stating earlier this week that the club had received a number of bids for him.
Smyth updates Leeds on Kamara’s pursuit.
Leeds is definitely considering a number of midfielders to replace the number eight position, with Paris Saint-Germain‘s Edouard Michut also being linked on Wednesday.
While Leeds’ pursuit of Kamara has not yet progressed beyond initial interest, Smyth believes it is a deal that can be completed if they so desire.
“[Glen] Kamara is one they’ve considered and looked at, Leeds,” he stated. It feels quite attainable, as well as pretty practical.”
Kamara‘s skill in possession would make him a terrific addition to Leeds’ midfield options, helping to offer that link between midfield and attack.
The 27-year-old did stumble a little at Rangers last season, but on the whole has been an outstanding servant for the Scottish club, with Steven Gerrard previously hailing him as ‘amazing’ during his time as manager.
With a stated price tag of £4/£5 million, this would be a very shrewd piece of business by Leeds, albeit whether they follow through on their initial interest remains to be seen.
