“I’m quite frustrated.” Manager admits £25 million player is angry, amid reports Leeds United may sign him

Leeds United have only a week left in the transfer window to conclude any outstanding business.

The Whites have yet to make a signing this month, but they have frequently stated that they are prepared to be patient in order to obtain their top targets. Several positions, including central defense, full-back, and creative attacker, need reinforcements in the coming week to test the effectiveness of the strategy.

Everton’s Ben Godfrey is one centre-back who has been connected with Leeds in recent days, with the 49ers allegedly in negotiations over an initial loan transfer with an obligation to buy in the summer.

And today, in his pre-match news conference ahead of Everton’s FA Cup encounter against Luton Town, manager Sean Dyche has addressed the talk linking Godfrey with a departure.

Dyche dismisses speculation about Leeds target Godfrey.

Ben Godfrey

He said, “Ben is doing extremely well; his professional demeanor is remarkable. He is well-regarded in the group, hasn’t had as much playing time, and is clearly dissatisfied as a result.

“But not in the sense that he is unhappy with me or anything; he is simply frustrated with not being able to play. He’s a wonderful professional who continues to push himself and the team.”

Godfrey has made only two Premier League appearances this season, with one coming from the start in December. Aside from that, he has had to settle with a one-minute cameo.

Leeds are expected to face stiff competition from around Europe for Godfrey, but they will be encouraged by Everton’s willingness to consider all proposals, including permanent ones.

Leeds may also have a tiny advantage in the battle because Godfrey previously worked for Daniel Farke at Norwich City, who transferred him to Everton for about £25 million.

Godfrey would be a fantastic acquisition if Leeds can make it off, and Dyche‘s words today should not prevent them from making a move.
