Tottenham look to derail Barcelona’s ambitions to recruit £8.5 million wonderkid Lucas Bergvall, who has already made his senior international debut for Sweden at the age of 17!
Tottenham have made an enquiry about Djurgardens wonderkid Lucas Bergvall. The 17-year-old Swedish international is set to join Barcelona for £8.5 million.
Despite this, Spurs could rush in to recruit the potential young midfielder, who has also piqued the curiosity of other clubs throughout Europe, including Manchester United, where he had tryouts when he was 14.
After coming through the ranks at Swedish club IF Brommapojkarna, he joined Djurgardens in December 2022.
The box-to-box midfielder has exceptional technical ability and can put his teammates in dangerous positions with his excellent distribution. He also has a strong grasp of the game and is noted for coming in at the correct time to intercept opposing attacks.
Tottenham have made an inquiry about Djurgardens wonderkid Lucas Bergvall.
Ange Postecoglou‘s side could rush in to hijack Barcelona’s efforts to recruit the 17-year-old.
The £8.5 million midfielder is presently set up to join the LaLiga club, with other clubs, like Manchester United and Newcastle, having previously showed interest.
Bergvall earned his first start for the club later in May, in a 1-0 win over Hacken, and went on to score three goals in 28 appearances from midfield, with Barcelona expressing interest in signing him last month.
The 17-year-old is so highly regarded that he has already earned his senior international debut for Sweden, playing 31 minutes in a 2-1 win over Estonia in January.
Spurs midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, meanwhile, wants to continue with the club, according to his lawyer, Lars Halgreen.
According to Mail Sport, Lyon is interested in the midfielder, but the French club may not pay his asking price.
His Spurs contract runs in 2025, and the Danish international has made only seven starts in 23 appearances across all competitions for Ange
Postecoglou‘s side.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has reiterated that he wants to stay at Tottenham, even though his contract expires in 2025.
The Danish midfielder has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter in Postecoglou’s side this season, and Lyon has indicated interest in signing him.
As the 28-year-old seeks more game time ahead of the Euros this summer, speculation about his future at the club has grown, with Newcastle also connected with the defensive midfielder.
With Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr both called up to the Africa Cup of Nations, Hojbjerg has started Tottenham‘s previous two games against Manchester United and Manchester City.
