David Ornstein has disclosed that Sevilla has made an approach to sign Tottenham Hotspur forward Alejo Veliz on loan until the end of the season.
Spurs were busy at work last night, winning 3-2 over Brentford. Neal Maupay grabbed all of the attention in that game, but ahead of tonight’s transfer deadline, there are some developments at Tottenham. Veliz’s short-term prospects remains uncertain.
Sevilla makes loan deal to sign Tottenham’s Alejo Veliz.
Last summer, Tottenham paid £13 million to sign Alejo Veliz from Rosario Central.
The Argentine is a great talent. He was always regarded as a future prospect, and he was not even expected to participate during the first half of the season.
However, Ange Postecoglou has used him eight times in the Premier League, all as a substitute, with Veliz scoring once.
The 20-year-old is currently out injured, but David Ornstein claims that Sevilla wants to sign him today before the 11:00 p.m. deadline.
The Spanish giants are thought to have submitted an offer last night for a direct loan transfer with no option to make it permanent in the summer.
Tottenham have yet to respond to that offer. Ornstein said a decision on Veliz’s future will be made sometime today.
Ornstein tweeted late last night: “EXCL: Tottenham have tonight received an offer from Sevilla to sign Alejo Veliz.
“Proposal for 20-year-old Argentina youth striker is a straight loan with no option to buy. On Deadline Day, THFC will decide whether or not to sanction Sevilla FC’s move.
Veliz, known as a ‘dynamite’ player, signed a long-term contract with Tottenham last summer, and it will not expire until the end of the 2028/29 season.
