Leeds United ‘very delighted’ to lose Ian Poveda as contract claim made, says Ben Jacobs.
Leeds United were “very happy” to lose Ian Poveda during the winter transfer window, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
According to the official Leeds website (1 February), the winger has joined Sheffield Wednesday on loan for the remainder of the season.
According to Jacobs, the Owls outbid fellow Championship club Birmingham City for the 23-year-old.
“Ian Poveda is also on his way out and will join Sheffield Wednesday as a permanent signing,” Jacobs told GIVEMESPORT on February 1. “He’s only 23 years old and joined from Manchester City with a good reputation in 2020.

Veteran defender Luke Ayling left in similar circumstances earlier in the year, joining Middlesbrough on loan after his Leeds contract expired in the summer, meaning he has played his final game for the West Yorkshire club.
The Whites mentioned the right-back when they announced his departure [official Leeds website, 10 January], but no such reference was made when Poveda’s transfer to Sheffield Wednesday was confirmed.
Jacobs appears to believe that his time at Leeds has come to an end, having joined the Elland Road club from Premier League heavyweights Manchester City in January 2020.
But he struggled for minutes under Daniel Farke this season, which prompted his loan switch, with Poveda receiving only 248 minutes in all competitions [Transfermarkt].
