Tottenham has achieved a statistic that many projected when Ange took over

There have been 84 goals in 23 Tottenham matches, one fewer than the 85 goals scored in Newcastle matches so far.

Tottenham broke a league record by scoring in 35 consecutive league matches on Saturday, thanks to Richarlison’s goal against Everton.

Postecoglou Ange

Tottenham has 49 goals for and 35 against, while Newcastle, following Saturday’s 4-4 draw with Luton, has 48 goals for and 37 against. Most people expected Tottenham’s new era, under Ange Postecoglou, to be entertaining and plenty of opportunities at both ends. Ange has outperformed expectations in his first 23 games, scoring an average of 3.7 goals per game.

Ange will be delighted to see his club near the top of the goals-for category, but he will be disappointed that Spurs have conceded the most goals among the Premier League’s top seven teams. Only Liverpool (52) and Manchester City (51) have scored more. Tottenham is equal for third place with Aston Villa, having scored 49 goals.

RICHARLISON

Tottenham has the most prolific offence on the road.
Surprisingly, Tottenham has scored more goals away (26 in 12 matches) than at home (23 in 11 games). They are the top road scorers, with City coming in second with 24 away goals despite playing one fewer game.

Spurs have the joint-third-best away record in the Premier League, despite conceding 20 goals in enemy territory, more than any of the top five teams. Only Liverpool and City, with 22 points each, have more than Spurs (20). Tottenham’s away matches have produced the most goals of any club, with 46 in 12, for an average of 3.8 goals per game.

Scoring has not come as easy at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs haven’t been as prolific at home, where they rank sixth with 23 goals in 11 games. Ange’s team has conceded 15 goals at home, which is the joint-ninth fewest. Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has had 38 goals scored, for an average of 3.5 per game. Eight teams’ home games have had larger attendance than the 38 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Ange, who arrived at the club as advertised, has imposed his offence-first attitude on Tottenham, which most fans are pleased with. Now, the Australian manager will seek to strengthen his defence so Spurs can become a consistent title contender.
