The Bulgarian didn’t play much at the start of the season, but he’s recently established himself as one of the first names on the squad sheet at Elland Road.
Gruev has been excellent for Leeds in recent weeks, and while it appears like he has arrived out of nowhere, this run of success has been the result of a lot of hard effort.
Indeed, Ben Parker, speaking on the LS11 Podcast, has been discussing Gruev’s progress, and he claims that during his time at and around the Leeds training field, he frequently sees the £5 million man in the gym alone doing additional work to better his game.
Gruev engages in additional labor.
Parker stated about Gruev and the work he has done.
“I think he is wonderful. Returning to your point about Daniel Farke being referred to as “the ultimate professional.” Parker stated, “The amount of times I’ve seen him doing extras in the gym on his own, this is when he wasn’t playing, he wasn’t getting any minutes, and it just goes to show that hard work pays off.”
Paying off
Here’s what we don’t see behind the scenes.
These gems frequently appear out of nowhere, leaving you wondering why they weren’t already on the squad.
However, these rises to prominence are typically the result of a great deal of hard work, and while Gruev may have been frustrated by his lack of minutes early in the season, he has maintained his focus, and his efforts are now paying off.
Gruev’s place in the team appears to be guaranteed from here on out, and he will certainly have an important role if Leeds manage to finish in the top two this season.
