Simon Jordan delivers a “Huge” Premier League decision regarding Leeds United

Despite Leeds United’s extended absence from the Premier League, Simon Jordan has maintained that a team of their magnitude should be there.

The former owner of Crystal Palace remembered Elland Road as having one of the best atmospheres around, and he was always intimidated by it.

Jordan then reiterated his preference for Leeds to be promoted to the Premier League over Southampton, their Championship rivals who are also vying for second place.

Jordan said, “I’ve always maintained the view that one of the most intimidating grounds is Elland Road,” during a live talkSPORT broadcast on February 14 at 10:57. Elland Road has one of the nicest atmospheres.

“The idea that Leeds United deserve to be in the Premier League; this is a significant club that has been out of the league for 17 years. It took a long time to receive them back.

“It’s a huge club, and its size should justify its place in the Premier League. As a football fan, with all due respect to the other teams, I’d rather have Leeds United in the Premier League than Southampton.”

Leeds United deserved to play Premier League football.

Since Daniel Farke took over at Elland Road, his team has played some fantastic football, won some fantastic games, and are currently on a run of form that, if maintained, should see them promoted back to the Premier League at the first opportunity.

If they are promoted, it will be because they deserve it and have earned it through their performance under Farke’s leadership, not because they have a divine right to be there, and the boss will deserve all of the credit if he can get them back up.

The race for promotion is fiercely contested, and while Leicester are widely expected to maintain their dominance and win the league, second place is still up for grabs, with Leeds and Southampton in particular competing for it.

Ipswich, meanwhile, have dropped off recently but remain in contention despite the strength of squads available to the recently relegated Premier League trio.
