“They even gave him a private jet” – Official on Tottenham’s efforts to attract a player with quality and ability

Tottenham Hotspur has agreed to sign Lucas Bergvall from Swedish club Djurgårdens IF Fotboll for the summer transfer window. The midfielder has agreed to a five-year contract with Spurs.

Barcelona expressed an interest in the 18-year-old, but Ange Postecoglou‘s team was able to sign him first.

Kevin Pérez, CEO of Fútbol Gran Canaria, a company that conducts training camps for clubs, spoke with Marca about Tottenham‘s victory over Barcelona in this operation.

According to the newspaper, Tottenham paid €10 million for Bergvall, which is €3 million more than the La Liga side proposed.

According to Marca, Pérez is Djurgårdens IF’s ‘trusted guy’ and had the opportunity to ‘get up close’ with the Sweden international during a camp in Spain.

In response to Barcelona’s loss of Bergvall to Tottenham, he stated: “Despite the fact that he is only 18, he is a very mature and humble lad. I guess his experiences have benefitted him. He has recently travelled between Barcelona and London to negotiate his future. “They even gave him a private jet.”

Pérez highlighted why other clubs were interested in signing the teenager before Tottenham won the battle.

“Lucas is a dynamic player with exceptional technical ability who stands out in the final pass. Quality is his best weapon. He possesses a ruthless ability to manage and play. Furthermore, he moves with an elegance that is out of proportion to his age, which has piqued the interest of teams such as Barcelona,” Pérez explained.

According to Pérez, Djurgårdens IF has worked on the teenager’s physique, resulting in an increase of “9 kilos of muscle mass”. He believes that his traits and abilities can aid the Premier League team.

“His finest positions are inside or middle. He prefers to play inside, between the lines, where he can contribute to the game’s development and maintain regular contact with the ball,” he continued.

“He slides smoothly between the lines and turns beautifully. I’d also want to point out that he usually always receives well-oriented objects, which add speed and verticality to the game. The latter might be really beneficial for Tottenham.”
