Fabrizio Romano has now spoken about a player who Tottenham Hotspur are really keen in signing this summer.
Although Ange Postecoglou and Daniel Levy made excellent progress last summer and this January, their recent results have shown the need for further development.
Spurs‘ lightning-fast start under Postecoglou may have obscured how young the project was under their new manager.
And there’s little doubt that Spurs, who are thought to be in a good financial situation, can make moves in the transfer market.
Perhaps a striker will be prioritised in the summer, but a recent update from Romano indicates that Tottenham are looking for a new winger.
In addition to love for Pedro Neto, who caused problems for Spurs’ defence on Saturday, there is also intrigue in Barcelona‘s Raphinha.
Fabrizio Romano says Tottenham would love to recruit Raphinha this summer.
Romano remarked, “I believe these are two athletes that have always been admired.
“Raphinha was already on Tottenham’s radar when he was at Leeds, and several in the scouting department genuinely like him.
“I believe it will be very dependent on what happens in Barcelona in terms of outgoings if they decide to put Raphinha on the market. In such circumstances, Tottenham may have an opportunity.
“But not just for Tottenham.” I believe Raphinha and Pedro [Neto] will be one of the names of the summer transfer window since there is interest from various clubs.
“Also, in this scenario, Tottenham values the players, so I’d include them on a prospective list, but nothing has moved forward in either case.
“I heard in the last few days, I believe via the Spanish media, that Tottenham had already made an official proposal for Raphinha; however, this is not true. It is too early.
“It will take time before Tottenham decide who is the player they really want but for sure they will add a winger to the squad in the summer and these two players are appreciated since a long time.”
A smart move.
It’s difficult to argue that signing Raphinha would be a wise move for Tottenham this summer, and Romano’s comments indicate that there is enough interest.
Although Raphinha hasn’t replicated his Premier League success since his £55 million move to Barcelona, there’s every reason to believe the ‘unbelievable’ Brazilian can prosper in England once more.
Raphinha‘s season has been slightly disrupted by injury, but he has also been inconsistent as a starter when available.
However, under Postecoglou‘s leadership, there is little doubt that the 27-year-old can regain his best form.
However, Spurs are reportedly willing to compete with Real Madrid for a different player this summer.
