Leeds United made an official bid for Besiktas winger Milot Rashica during the winter transfer window, according to Takvim.
The Turkish website said [18 February] that the Whites offered £5.9 million for the former Norwich City forward in order to add another experienced head to the squad.
Leeds United aim for Premier League promotion.
The links to Rashica make perfect sense for Leeds, with Daniel Farke having previously worked with the 27-year-old in the top tier of English football.
He made 40 games for the Canaries, joining from Werder Bremen following a century of Bundesliga outings.
Farke clearly has the ability to win promotion to the Premier League this season, having done so with Norwich twice before.
And, given his previous tenure in the competition, which included 15 consecutive losses during the 2021/22 season before being fired, the German will be eager to avoid more misery.
Of course, there is still a long way to go in the season, and with Southampton closing up on Leeds, the automatic promotion slot might be decided at the last minute.
If the Whites can repeat their success this season, Rashica’s knowledge and expertise might be a valuable asset to the team.
And for only £5.9 million, it would be difficult to turn down if Besiktas approved the transfer.
