Speaking on a preview of Monday Night Football, where he was a guest, which aired on Sky Sports News on February 19, the former Whites manager claimed he had a great time at Elland Road and that the team was “fantastic” to work with because they worked so hard to succeed.

The American admitted that it was “hard to walk away,” but that he was grateful for the opportunity and had learnt a lot during his time in West Yorkshire.

“I really enjoyed my team at Leeds,” Marsch explained.

“The crew was amazing to deal with. I always felt that everyone at Thorp Arch was putting all into our achievement, and I was heartbroken.

“It was difficult to step away, and it takes time for me, and I believe for all managers, to ponder and refuel their energy to continue again. In the end, I’m grateful for the opportunity and learnt a lot from the experience.”

While he was in control for the duration of the season that saw the Whites relegated to the Championshipit was decision-making from those above him that primarily put the team in difficulty.

That is an era the fans are pleased to have left behind as the club seeks an immediate return to the Premier League under Daniel Farke’s guidance.

They are now in good position to reach that goal, but if they do return to the top flight, they will be anxious to avoid repeating the mistakes made by past owners at Elland Road.
