Alasdair Gold feels Ange Postecoglou has a situation to fix at Tottenham in the next two weeks.

Given that Spurs do not play again until March 2nd, when they face Crystal Palace at home, Postecoglou now has a window of opportunity to solve a few concerns.

February has been a mixed month for Tottenham, and the Wolverhampton Wanderers defeat seemed inevitable.

Perhaps Postecoglou’s team rode their luck against Brentford and Brighton & Hove Albion at home, when they still had the character to win.

However, Alasdair Gold speculated that the Tottenham manager might have been disappointed with one or two situations.

Speaking on the Gold Guest Talk Tottenham podcast’, the journalist was persuaded that Postecoglou needs to supervise genuine mentality shift during his two weeks off.

Gold was dissatisfied with the Spurs players‘ pushing, particularly against Wolves, and suggested that Ange should just drop anyone who was not giving their all.

Alasdair Gold believes Ange Postecoglou needs to address the mindset of his Tottenham players.

Speaking on the podcast, Gold believed that an attitude shift was required, which was far more significant than tactical issues.

He stated,

“I think that’s going to be Ange’s largest item to correct in these two weeks, more than anything technological.

“It’s the attitude adjustment, because he shouldn’t tolerate that in any way shape or form; there’s no justification for it, and there shouldn’t be any exhaustion – they’re playing a game every week.

“They’ve got stronger squad numbers now, so, quite honestly, whomever you are, if you’re not doing what you’re supposed to be doing and giving your all in terms of pressing, aggression, dynamism, and movement on the pitch, I’m sorry, get out of the team.

“And that’s the whole point of having competition in the team, to not allow that complacency to creep in.”

Tottenham

Of course, while some Tottenham fans may agree with Gold’s sentiments, it does not appear like Postecoglou’s message is being carried over for 90 minutes right now.

That’s not to say things won’t improve, but perhaps this is the first true stumbling block of this new period, and since the outcomes haven’t been that bad, it surely might be worse.

On positive side, Tottenham fans will be pleased to learn how well Lucas Bergvall performed in Sweden this week.
