‘A pleasure seeing them’ – Vicario says he enjoys playing alongside the Tottenham combination.

Guglielmo Vicario has revealed that he admires Rodrigo Bentacnur and Destiny Udogie’s ability to play past the opposition’s press even when the ball is in tight spaces.

Ange Postecoglou continually encourages his team to take the riskier choice and play through the opponents fearlessly, with the Australian frequently becoming frustrated on the touchline when he sees his players hoofing the ball up the pitch.

While this has generated some great moments this season, with the Lilywhites brilliantly cutting through the opposition to go from back to front, it has also resulted in some mistakes at the club, with some Spurs players frequently handing the ball away in critical circumstances.

Vicario was asked to respond in a video on Tottenham’s YouTube page to a message from a Spurs fan who praised Bentancur and Udogie for their ability to maneuver out of pressure at the back.

In response, the Spurs number one stated: “To overcome the opponents’ pressure with some of the skills they possess.” They have amazing body motions and foot skills.

“For me from the back, it’s a pleasure watching them do this kind of stuff just looking at them because I am comfortable and I know we can score a new goal and have a new chance.”

The advantage of selecting the high-risk option of playing through the press rather than going direct is that the game begins as soon as you complete the first line of press. This is definitely important to Postecoglou’s mindset, and I don’t see it changing in Australia.
