Saudi club plans to make contact with “outstanding” Tottenham star

This might be a major blow…

Tottenham Hotspur, which lost Harry Kane to Bayern Munich last summer, could avoid losing another great player this summer. However, rumors indicate that scenario is now a reality, with Saudi Arabian clubs preparing to make contact about one specific player.

The Lilywhites fared well in the aftermath of Kane’s departure, bringing in players like as James Maddison, Brennan Johnson, and Guglielmo Vicario to give Ange Postecoglou a significantly improved roster. And with that roster, the Lilywhites have been vying for a return to Champions League competition, but they presently lie fifth, five points behind Aston Villa in fourth with a game in hand.

However, another important departure might rapidly derail any gains achieved in North London this season. Instead, the emphasis must be on incomings and who can help the Lilywhites make that critical step back into the Premier League’s top four. Spurs had already been connected with offers for Jarrad Branthwaite ahead of the summer, so that appears to be the idea.

However, this is where the good news may end. According to Rudy Galetti, Saudi teams intend to make contact about a transfer for Heung-min Son this summer. Galetti shared the news on X, writing:

Saudis are unlikely to be hesitant when it comes to splurging the cash for Son’s signing, as a number of players have made big-money moves in recent years.

Spurs must maintain “outstanding” status. Despite being 31 years old, Son has demonstrated exceptional performance at this level. The South Korean has 12 goals and six assists this season and will undoubtedly contribute to Tottenham‘s top-four ambitions.

Postecoglou is also aware of that quality, applauding his skipper and saying:

Ange
“He has been a great leader and performer. I’ve put him in the ninth position, and he works so hard. When I talk about creating a terrific environment for the players, Sonny leads the way, along with Madders (James Maddison) and Cristian Romero.”

In terms of leadership in North London, losing two captains in two seasons would not be a good position for Postecoglou, emphasising the importance of retaining Son.

When the summer transfer window opens, Spurs must merely hope that Son avoids the temptation to become the latest star to leave for Saudi Arabia and instead remains in North London as part of Postecoglou’s strategy. It might be a stressful summer for the Lilywhites as they face yet another potential important departure.
