Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool’s manager, has admitted that he is a great admirer of the Championship, having seen Leeds United’s game against Leicester City last week.
The Championship is regarded as an extremely competitive league, but the three clubs relegated from the Premier League last season are all battling for automatic promotion amidst growing concerns about parachute payments.
Leicester, led by Enzo Maresca, are at the top of the table, with Daniel Farke’s Leeds in second place.
“I enjoy the Championship; I watched Leeds v Leicester last week. “Wow,” Klopp stated during a press conference.
“I recently saw West Brom, which is a great football-playing idea. Ipswich as well. “The league is incredibly difficult.”
Liverpool will face Championship opposition in the FA Cup on Wednesday night when Southampton visit Anfield.
The Saints’ aim this season is to win promotion, but they will want to put themselves to the test against Liverpool.
