Tottenham are ramping up their summer recruitment push after it was claimed that they were ready to reopen discussions on a transfer for January target Antonio Nusa – and this time they may also attempt to bring his Club Brugge teammate to the club in a massive €60 double deal.
The north London club has made tremendous progress since the Australian took over last summer, in what many regarded as a surprise appointment. Currently ranked fifth, Postecoglou has captured hearts and minds with his football philosophy and overall laid-back manner.
Finally, it is all about the results, and if Tottenham can finish in the top four this season, it will be considered a successful first season in charge.
While the team lost talismanic striker Harry Kane in the summer, Postecoglou has addressed the loss by promoting Son Heung-min to a more central role and finding ways to bring out the best in Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski. Brennan Johnson and January signing Timo Werner are also options for the Australian.
However, Postecoglou remained determined to acquire another attacking option to his squad, and the Spurs manager worked hard to secure a contract to recruit Belgian Brugge youngster Nusa during the January transfer window.
Despite negotiating personal terms on a potential deal, Tottenham were leapfrogged into the transfer sweepstakes by Brentford, who went in first to agree terms on his signing with the Belgian club.
Sadly for Thomas Frank’s side, a medical issue with the player’s back and knee prevented the proposed €30 million transfer, forcing the 18-year-old Norwegian international to return to the Jupiler Pro-League club.
Tottenham prepares a fresh push to sign Antonio Nusa.
According to Belgian outlet Walfoot, Spurs are ready to step in where Brentford failed and sign the four-cap teenager once the summer transfer market opens.
According to their source, Spurs are’still intrigued’ in the adolescent and want to ‘go back in’ for the boy in a new bid to get him to the Premier League.
Brugge, for its part, will not stand in the player’s way, demonstrating in January that they are willing to cash in on a player who, alongside Oscar Bobb, Erling Haaland, and Martin Odegaard, will seek to lead Norway to the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in North America.
Those preparations have also been revealed by insider Spurs source Alasdair Gold, who has backed up rumours that Postecoglou and his team are set to renew their efforts to sign Nusa.
“Tottenham is definitely one of the clubs showing interest,” he told the Norwegian newspaper Nettavisen. “It’s difficult to say right now if they will try seriously to get him, but as we can see with Tottenham’s strategy to invest in big young talents it wouldn’t be a surprise if they try.”
Spurs want a €60 million double Brugge raid.
Spurs are reportedly interested in signing Nusa’s Brugge teammate Andreas Skov Olsen as part of their most recent series of enquiries.
The Danish talent, who can play on the right side of midfield or through the middle, has emerged as one of the most sought-after players in the Jupiler Pro-League, thanks to several standout performances for Brugge.
That form has led to speculation that he could join Arsenal, among other clubs, who have been keeping an eye on the 24-year-old.
Spurs, on the other hand, are said to have increased their chase of the 64-goal striker, with Postecoglou reportedly planning a double raid on Brugge this summer.
The Belgian club is believed to be ‘rubbing their palms’ at the thought of such a significant windfall, having previously stated that they are open to proposals for the 29-times capped player, which could be worth a total of €60 million (£51.4 million) to the club.
Skov Olsen told Ekstra Bladet that he would like to try his luck in the Premier League before his career ends. I’m not sure if it will happen right now. Time will tell. I’m also open to other options.
When asked earlier this season if he was close to a move, he declined, saying: “It hasn’t been so concrete that there have been negotiations at all.” I got wounded in January following the World Cup, which put everything on pause for a while.”
