The Leeds United fan who fell from Stamford Bridge’s upper deck on Wednesday night is a football hooligan who was sentenced in 2012 for hitting a former England custodian, Mail Sport can reveal.

Aaron Cawley, 33, was jailed for four months and banned from football for six years after going onto the pitch and striking then-Sheffield Wednesday goal keeper Chris Kirkland during a televised match in 2012.

Cawley is recovering in hospital following the fall, which occurred while Leeds fans celebrated Mateo Joseph‘s opening goal.
