‘The owner is frustrated.’ Evangelos Marinakis is unhappy, according to Nottingham Forest’s chairman.

Nottingham Forest chairman Tom Cartledge has explained how club owner Evangelos Marinakis feels about the City Ground issue.

Tom Cartledge has stated that Evangelos Marinakis is upset that Nottingham Forest may have to relocate from the City Ground.
According to BBC Sport, the municipal Ground sits on ground leased by the municipal council. The present contract has only 33 years remaining.

The authority is asking a rent rise from £250,000 to almost £1 million.

Forest chairman Cartledge has stated that club owner Marinakis is not pleased. He has said that the Premier League club may have to abandon stadium redevelopment plans and relocate.

Why Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is unhappy.
According to BBC Sport, there have been negotiations regarding Forest purchasing the freehold on a permanent basis.

Forest reportedly received planning authorization for the stadium expansion in 2022. Nottingham City Council has confirmed to BBC Sport that it has been in discussions with the Reds regarding future alternatives.
Cartledge told the BBC: “We are in a position where, for the first time, we must decide whether the future will be away from the City Ground.

“In the future, football teams’ wage expenses will be significantly tied to revenue. If we do not increase revenue, we will be unable to meet our goals, expand the playing side, and provide the manager with the resources he need.

“Unless we see sufficient progress, it has become a reasonable debate point to look elsewhere.

“I’m frustrated, the owner is frustrated, because what he wants to do is give back to what he promised the people of Forest which is growth on and off the pitch and not to be able to do that is tough.”

Nottingham Forest has more serious worries.

While I believe Nottingham Forest should address the rent issue at the City Ground, they have more serious worries.

To flourish as a club and be successful in the future, Forest must remain in the Premier League. To achieve success off the pitch, the squad must perform well on the pitch.

Forest are currently facing relegation to the Championship at the end of the season. They will face Liverpool this weekend and are expected to lose.

Nuno’s side are currently 17th in the Premier League league, with 24 points from 26 games, four points ahead of Luton Town, who are third from bottom after 25 games.
