Liverpool CEO Billy Hogan receives an increased role as FSG announces executive changes.

Hogan will become CEO of FSG International without affecting his day-to-day responsibilities at Liverpool.
Billy Hogan, Liverpool’s CEO, has been given a larger responsibility inside Fenway Sports Group, but he will continue to work with the Reds on a daily basis.

Hogan, the Reds’ CEO since 2020, has been made CEO of FSG International, while long-time FSG partner and Boston Red Sox president Sam Kennedy has been named CEO of FSG.

The decision was announced to FSG partners at the company’s annual meeting in Bonita Springs, Florida. FSG principle John W. Henry, chairman Tom Werner, and president Mike Gordon appointed the couple to new posts.
“This point in FSG’s growth is an appropriate time to formalise our leadership structure, recognising Sam and Billy’s ongoing contributions and responsibilities across our entire portfolio,” read a message to partners in Florida by FSG’s leadership team.

“We know our people are our most valuable asset, and in Sam and Billy, we have two of the most successful leaders in the business, whose long-term accomplishments stand out even more as FSG’s inaugural recruits over two decades ago.

“Among their colleagues, they are universally admired for their leadership, having contributed to multiple championships in Boston and Liverpool. We are glad to formalise the roles they have played and exemplified over the past few years.”

The duo’s expanded roles will require them to collaborate closely with Henry, Werner, and Gordon on a rapidly expanding FSG portfolio that includes Liverpool, the Red Sox, the Pittsburgh Steelers, RFK Racing, real estate, and sports management divisions, as well as a significant stake in the PGA Tour through the FSG-led Strategic Sports Group. The pair will ‘oversee management’ of the sporting assets ‘to ensure the competitive performance of its teams’.

The ECHO understands that UK-based Hogan would maintain the same hands-on attitude he has with the Reds, where he has shown to be a strong guiding hand for the club in his role as CEO since taking over from Peter Moores four years ago.
