Tonight’s Cardiff City news: star to return for Ipswich Town clash and aggressive boast regarding next season

Erol Bulut expects Jak Alnwick to return for Saturday’s game against Ipswich, but Callum Robinson and Kion Etete will not be fit until after the international break.

Mark McGuinness and Aaron Ramsey have both been ruled out until after the upcoming break in games, and Bulut has revealed that forwards Robinson and Etete will join them.

Bulut suggested Robinson, who appeared rusty when playing 45 minutes for the under-21s this week, might not be ready for Saturday. I believe he will be ready following the international break. That’s why we let him play with the U21s to become fit.”

When asked if either Alnwick or Etete would be accessible, the manager said, “Jak, yes. Etete, I believe also after the international break.” Wintle: Now we can build; next year looks much easier.

Ryan Wintle believes the foundations laid this season will benefit the club next year, when the table appears to be “a lot easier”.

Cardiff have made significant progress this season, with this three-game winning streak putting them seven points from the play-offs and solidly in mid-table.

It hasn’t been perfect at times, but given that there were two consecutive relegation scraps before this, it’s definitely development.

And the midfielder hopes the club can kick on next season and compete properly for those top-six spots.

“Next year, it appears that the league will be much easier! The big teams are on the rise. We don’t know what the teams coming down will be like. But this year is about laying the groundwork for next year, when we can truly push forward and make the playoffs.”

Cardiff squandered a two-goal lead at Ipswich Town earlier this season, one of several games in which they should have picked up points. And Wintle claims that games like that shifted the entire narrative in the locker room, from talking about survival to squandering opportunities to compete properly for the play-offs in a matter of months.”

Hi

We led 2-0 at their home before losing 3-2. We were unfortunate to lose that day. Hopefully, they’ll see our form and understand it won’t be easy.

We’ll play our game against them and hopefully beat them,” he added of Ipswich.

“You get players in there (dressing room) now saying, ‘Ah, if we didn’t do that, if we didn’t lose those three or four games that we should have won…’ If you look like this, we should be in the playoffs! But you cannot think like that. We probably won a couple games that we should not have. It’s about looking ahead and growing better.

“Turnbull: My favored position and main goal this season. David Turnbull needed some time to settle into his role at Cardiff City, but he has demonstrated in his last few appearances that he is a very potential player.

The midfielder set up Perry Ng for the winning goal at Ashton Gate last weekend and also demonstrated technical ability in the win over Huddersfield Town yesterday night.

He played more centrally in the No.10 position against the Terriers and made the most of his opportunity. That’s where he envisions himself playing his greatest football.

Speaking about his preferred position, he told the club’s matchday programme: “I enjoy playing No.10, running around the striker, making runs in behind, and making things happen on the ball. I enjoy scoring goals; I get the occasional tap-in, but the majority of them appear to be quite fantastic!
