Liverpool are next up against Manchester City in the Premier League, and Jurgen Klopp is facing some selection posers.
Liverpool kept their ambitions of a quadruple alive with a convincing Europa League victory over Sparta Prague on Thursday.
Darwin Nunez scored twice, and Alexis MacAllister, Luis Diaz, and Dominik Szoboszlai also scored to give the Reds a 5-1 victory in the round of 16 first leg in Czechia.
Liverpool will now try to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League when they host second-placed Manchester City on Sunday. And here, we look ahead to the adjustments Jurgen Klopp could make when his squad returns to play.
Liverpool has one serious injury issue when Ibrahima Konate left on Thursday with what appeared to be a hamstring problem. If the France international is ruled out, the versatile Joe Gomez will be favoured over Jarell Quansah, who started in Prague, to line up at the heart of defence with skipper Virgil van Dijk, with Joel Matip still out.
Gomez is also a right-back possibility, but Conor Bradley will be ready to come in if the England player is needed elsewhere while Trent Alexander-Arnold is out. There is intrigue at left-back, with Klopp having to choose between Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas, both of whom are fit again.
Caoimhin Kelleher is anticipated to continue in goal ahead of Adrian. Alisson Becker is expected to remain out for at least another month.
Trio poised.
With Szoboszlai making another step forward in his recovery from a hamstring injury, the Hungarian could line up on the right of the midfield three, with Mac Allister to his left and Wataru Endo at number six – only the fourth time the trio, who were signed in the summer, have started a game together.
Ryan Gravenberch, Curtis Jones, Thiago Alcantara, and Stefan Bajcetic are all absent, leaving just younger possibilities, with Harvey Elliott the most experienced, though the 20-year-old may play higher upfield.
Bobby Clark made his European debut in midweek, joining James McConnell and Matuesz Musialowski on the bench.
Salah starts?
The crucial decision for Klopp is whether to play Mohamed Salah, who made his comeback with a late cameo in Prague. If he remains on the bench, Cody Gakpo, who started on the right on Thursday, and Elliott are the next best alternatives.
Diaz and Nunez appear to be lock-ins for the left and middle positions, respectively, while Gakpo may provide cover in both. Youngsters Kaide Gordon and Lewis Koumas have recently appeared, although Diogo Jota and Ben Doak are out, and Jayden Danns was out in midweek due to concussion protocol.
