This is a positive development for Ange Postecoglou…
As Ange Postecoglou prepares for his second summer as Tottenham Hotspur‘s Champions League manager, the Lilywhites have apparently received a boost in their pursuit of one of their targets.
Spurs transfer news
Daniel Levy hasn’t been afraid to support Postecoglou so far. The Australian had a busy first summer in command last year, with James Maddison, Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, and Brennan Johnson joining while Harry Kane left for Bayern Munich. Then, in the January transfer window, he received further boost when Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin arrived in North London.
However, the former Celtic manager recently stated to Football.London that Spurs are unlikely to be able to spend the same amount of money as their rivals.
“To some extent, but I do not believe we are in a position to invest £100 million on a player, as you propose. That is not the case, and I believe it will never be the case for the club. Our competitors are, regardless of their status.”
The Lilywhites may be in a position to complete a trade for current target Roony Bardghji, with the club reportedly pushing for one. According to Tottenham News, Bardghji is now set to leave Copenhagen, with Spurs reportedly interested in signing him this summer, providing a boost to fans in north London.
When asked if he might follow fellow Swede Lucas Bergvall to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer, the right-winger would not rule it out, telling Sports Bladet:
“It’s enjoyable to think about. You never know; it may happen. It’s hard to say right now.
Spurs are interested in signing him, and Bardghji is apparently eager to leave Copenhagen, making him a player to keep an eye on this summer.
“Superb” Bardghji will outperform Kulusevski
At only 18 years old, Bardghji is already one of Copenhagen’s standouts, having made headlines earlier this season with his Champions League winning goal against Manchester United. Given Dejan Kulusevski’s inconsistencies, Tottenham would be wise to make a bid for the teenager as early as this summer. Here’s how Bardghji’s stats compare to those of his compatriots this season:
Stats | Rooney Bardghji |
Dejan Kuluvsevski |
---|---|---|
Starts | 14 | 23 |
Goals | 7 | 6 |
Assists | 0 | 2 |
As of now, Kulusevski has only assisted on one more goal than the teenager this season, demonstrating Bardghji’s already impressive talent. If Spurs can reach an agreement as quickly as possible, they may be able to sign him before his price becomes too expensive, as Postecoglou said would be the case at £100 million.
When the summer arrives, Spurs may be hoping that Kulig will be able to watch Bardghji play in North London.
