‘Lack of concentration’… Graeme Souness was dissatisfied with the 21-year-old Liverpool midfielder today.

Graeme Souness was clearly unimpressed with one Liverpool player during today’s defeat to Manchester United.

Jurgen Klopp saw his side lose their lead late in the game, and one path to silverware has now been ruled off in his final season at Liverpool.
When compared to Klopp’s other achievements at Anfield, the FA Cup has not always been the most profitable competition for him.

Furthermore, while it hasn’t always been his top focus, it certainly appear that he was striving to win it this year.

Klopp fielded a good lineup at Old Trafford, despite missing a few players from what would be his strongest eleven.

Both Dominik Szoboszlai and Mohamed Salah returned today, but neither appeared to be at their peak performance yet, which is understandable.

Graeme Souness was concerned about Jarell Quansah, who replaced Ibrahima Konate in the back.
Souness was monitoring the game for ITV Sport and found fault with Quansah‘s role in Man United‘s first goal against Liverpool.

Graeme Souness believes Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah lacked focus versus United.
Souness was discussing the goal at halftime, and he may have thought Quansah demonstrated his experience by being caught ball-watching.

He went on to say: “Liverpool give away a quick free-kick for the first goal, they need to stop them doing it.”Quansah is caught ball-watching, with little attempt to cover [Alejandro] Garnacho.

“A lack of concentration, but Wataru Endo doesn’t cover himself in glory either. United deserved the goal at that point.”

And, while Souness observed Quansah shutting off in that moment, which resulted to United’s opening goal, his overall Liverpool performance was positive.

A defence that conceded four goals may not have played well, but the 21-year-old still looked confident on the ball.
According to Sofascore, Quansah completed 91% of his 103 passes, including four successful long balls.

Quansah also won five duels, including three interceptions and six clearances.

So, while the defender may have been frustrated with his involvement in the goal, he did show promise elsewhere.

Today will be a learning curve for all of Liverpool‘s young players, who should only improve from here.
That being said, Jurgen Klopp did make a beeline for Kobbie Mainoo today.
