Report: Leeds players harmed by 25-year-old’s antics; Elland Road exit possible today

According to Leeds Live, Max Wober has “hurt” his teammates and colleagues at Elland Road by taking the first opportunity to quit the club and join Borussia Monchengladbach on loan until the end of the 23-24 season.

Wober, 25, was planning to stay at Elland Road this summer. However, Wober was away from the match against Monaco in York in the blink of an eye. Daniel Farke then confirmed his departure to join Gladbach in Germany.

Last week, Florian Plettenberg stated that a loan agreement had been reached, but that a permanent option was unlikely to be included. A loan cost of £430,000 has been agreed upon, with confirmation coming today [Monday]. But it has left an indelible mark.

According to Leeds Live, Wober‘s intention to stay at Elland Road and then, at the drop of a hat, his decision to leave – at the first sight of interest – left teammates and colleagues hurt. A lack of allegiance has irritated players.

Wober injures Leeds teammates after seizing the opportunity to depart.

It did appear out of nowhere. Especially because it had previously been reported that the Austrian would remain at Elland Road. Marc Roca, Diego Llorente, Brenden Aaronson, and even Rasmus Kristensen were all expected to go.

Their departures will not have hurt as much as Wober‘s, who was clearly a well-liked member of the group and had made it known to the players that he intended to stay. There isn’t much the Leeds players can do anymore, but Wober’s departure will sting.

Perhaps not for Liam Cooper and Pascal Struijk, who will see their game time improve. Captain Cooper, who is now the top choice on the left. Struijk may play on the right side of the defensive in the middle.
