Doctor: Tottenham star may miss match against Luton Town, late fitness test scheduled for Saturday

Dr Rajpal Brar says Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven is likely to miss the game against Luton Town due to a hamstring issue.

The injury expert believes it will be a Grade 2 setback, not as severe as the one he previously sustained, which kept him out for weeks.

If the 22-year-old has trained well over the international break, he may need a late fitness test to play on March 30 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Dr. Brar, a doctor of physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Tottenham News that if van de Ven misses only a game or two, the injury is likely to be a Grade 2 out of 4.

“It’s difficult to provide further information because the timeline hasn’t been released, but the club may be prudent because he has a history of hamstring issues with a high likelihood of recurrence and may not risk him this week.

“His availability will be determined on how he trains over the break.

“A fitness test may be required on the day of the game to ensure he’s ready to start.”

Tottenham need Van de Ven to return from injury.

After arriving in North London with minimal fanfare, the Dutchman quickly established himself as one of Ange Postecoglou’s first choices on the team sheet.

At 22, he has frequently demonstrated the maturity of a centre-back in his prime and has been instrumental in Spurs’ blistering start to the season.

Postecoglou will be hopeful that he is healthy not only for the Luton match, but also for the rest of the season.

He has made 18 league starts this season and with him in the side, Spurs have a stronger chance of qualifying for the Champions League.

Along with the Dutchman, Ryan Sessegnon, Manor Solomon, and Fraser Forster will miss the Luton game.
